20 ladies, from 15 cities, in 5 countries.
We studied choreographies via Zoom - some of us only had 2 months. We came together as a team at the birthplace of Argentine Tango, to show our art and passion, while immersing ourselves in the studies of Tango.
Many of us had never met each other in person. We had no choice but to accelerate the “Forming - Storming - Norming - Performing” team development process.
2 weeks, 3 choreographies, 1 fashion show, 5 performances, at 5 iconic Tango venues in Buenos Aries.
Superb classes, intense schedule, little time to eat or sleep, swollen feet, much sweat, many tears, occasional mental break-downs, countless support, many friendships, and many applauses.
The pressure is high. We didn’t want to let our teachers down. Some were nervous.
Some didn’t feel ready. Some learned to navigate team dynamics. Schedules were fluid. The floors were not ideal. We slipped and we had our heels caught.
Despite all the challenges and unfamiliarities, we smiled, we performed, and we delivered. All as a team, led and inspired by our fabulous dance teacher and coach Celina Rotundo.
Her voice set the tone for the entire trip - “This is special, and this is for you. Enjoy it!”
As a leadership team coach, this trip to Argentina heightened my appreciation for intentional team development. Teams are meant to have challenges. All teams can become high-performing. I am immensely grateful for this experience and I am forever more committed to serving the world as a passionate leadership team coach.
